Modern Dentistry can now provide artificial teeth which look just like a natural tooth. There are different ways these teeth can then be placed in a person's mouth to replace the gap with a natural looking tooth again. This can sometimes also be useful if the artificial tooth can share some of the load your remaining teeth have been put under. The artificial tooth can also stop the teeth either side of the gap tipping and angling toward the gap.

Implant

An implant is a realistic artificial tooth attached to a small titanium metal rod. This rod is inserted into your jaw to act in the same way as a normal tooth root so it can securely hold the artificial tooth in your mouth.

Since implants are anchored directly into your jaw, your other teeth need not be used as in the case of the bridge.

Implants can also be used to anchor bridges and dentures.
